While there are many podcasts about the autism community, sometimes the voice of those with an ADS diagnosis is not necessarily heard.
This list aims to address that problem by sharing podcasts created by those with autism. Many of the podcasts focus on autism disorders, neurodiveregence, and more while others allow their hosts to display their unique perspectives on other topics such as comedy.
The Self Advocate
The idea behind this podcast is simple: talk to people with cognitive disabilities who advocate for themselves. Simple, yet very powerful. Topics are wide-ranging: a recent interview focused on meditation practices for those with cognitive disabilities to a holiday music special that discussed auditory triggers (and shared some fun tunes). Many artists with cognitive disabilities have been interviewed–listeners can find a treasure trove of interesting material in the archive.
Not Weird, Just Autistic
Treasure this podcast for its archive of 15 episodes where three advocates in the autism world invite fascinating guests for panel discussions. The format is informal and friendly and the topics range from an interview with a neurodivergent rebel to the intersection of autism and eating disorders. This podcast is officially hosted by the amazing J.R. Reed, who was diagnosed with autism in his forties although his panel and their lively banter, are the real stars.
Spectrumly Speaking
A biweekly podcast dedicated to women on the autism spectrum. Hosts Haley Moss (an autism self-advocate, attorney, artist, and author) and Dr. Lori Butts (a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist, and licensed attorney) discuss topics and news stories, share personal stories, and interview some of the most fascinating voices from the autism community.
