“CCBHC” stands for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics, a model designed to guarantee access to coordinated comprehensive behavioral health care. According to SAMSHA, CCBHCs are required to provide services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, age, or place of residence, including specialized care for children and youth. There are criteria and services behavioral health clinics are required to offer to qualify for CCBHC programs.
Substance use recovery providers can apply for SAMSHA CCBHC grants in order to transition to the CCBHC model. Eligible providers must register with NIH’s eRA Commons before they apply electronically to get a grant award. Previous grant recipients may apply for additional expansion grants to improve or add services.
CCBHCs are required to collect and submit data by leveraging Health Information Technology systems. The EHR used by CCBHCs must be ONC-Certified and meet specific requirements, so substance use recovery providers can measure their impact and obtain additional funding.
